The EU and US should put an end to the ongoing trade dispute
Ulrich Adam, Director General of spiritsEUROPE:
"We are disappointed to see that the EU has decided to impose tariffs that will target US spirits and other sectors that are unrelated to the core issue of this trade dispute which is about large civil aircraft.
We urge the EU and the US to go back to the negotiation table and find a solution that will ensure a swift return of tariff-free transatlantic spirits trade, thus stopping the severe economic harm that such tariffs are causing.
We call on the EU and the US to suspend the actual application of existing and new tariffs on spirits and other unrelated products while negotiations are progressing."
(1) European Union tariffs of 25% on U.S. rum, brandy, vodka and vermouth.
